Tour of the island of Sal

The excursion begins in Santa Maria, the island's vibrant tourist village. After a quick introduction to the itinerary, we'll hit the road to explore Sal's natural treasures. The first stage of your excursion takes you to Buracona, a spectacular site known for its "Blue Eye". This natural phenomenon occurs in an underwater cave where light penetrates through the rocks and creates a brilliant blue colour in the water. It's a magical place, ideal for taking photos and enjoying the stunning scenery. Depending on the time of day, the light and colours can create a mesmerising spectacle. Next, it's on to Pedra de Lume, an ancient volcanic crater containing a salt lake. This fascinating site is ideal for a relaxing swim where you can float in the water, due to the high concentration of salt, similar to the Dead Sea experience. Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and impressive scenery around the lake while learning about the history of this unique geological formation. After exploring Pedra de Lume, you'll head to Shark Bay, a site renowned for its exceptional marine wildlife. Depending on your preferences and the time of year, you'll have the chance to take part in a boat trip to observe the sharks in their natural habitat, or go diving to get a closer look at these marine creatures. It's a thrilling and unique experience that allows you to observe sharks in a safe and environmentally friendly way. At the end of the day, you will be driven back to Santa Maria, where the excursion ends. You can enjoy the rest of your evening relaxing on the beach or exploring more of the charming village.
