Solidarity stay in Cape Verdean immersion

Welcome at the airport by your guide and transfer for an overnight stay at the hotel, on the heights of the city center.

Depending on your flight schedule, you may be able to enjoy the beach or stroll around the main square where families come to listen to the brass band that plays regularly. To immerse yourself a little more in the unique atmosphere of this small port town where Cesária Évora, the "barefoot diva," composed her most beautiful songs, your guide will offer you a dinner with music.

In the morning you will take the boat (ferry) for a short transfer to Santo Antão.

Upon your arrival you will set off on an adventure in the greenest and most cultivated valley of the archipelago.

The path winds from hamlet to hamlet through sugarcane fields and leads you to the hilltop village of Espanadeiro. You'll then descend into the Figueiral valley, following part of the long path taken by the valley's children to get to school. You'll stay overnight at a small farmhouse where you can spend the night under the stars on the terrace, weather permitting.

After a short drive, you'll reach the magnificent Ribeira da Torre Valley, a deep volcanic valley surrounded by cliffs and adorned with dramatic peaks. During this day, you'll have the opportunity to explore rural life and learn about local cultures in this unique landscape. As you descend through sugarcane and yam fields, you'll appreciate the region's natural beauty with a visit to the magnificent waterfall, La Cascada de Vinha. At the end of your hike, your driver will pick you up and take you back to your accommodation in Ponta do Sol, where you'll spend your second night in this charming village.

After a good breakfast, departure by minibus to the Ribeira Grande valley, until the end of the road.

A mule track will then take you to the village of Aguada, where you'll spend two days. Your luggage will be transferred by donkey. You'll stay with one or more families in the village. Life there is simple and understated, with a communal atmosphere. Short guided walks will take you through the irrigation fields of the Aguada valley, where locals compete in ingenuity to build their terraces and irrigate their crops.

During these days, you will also learn about the cultivation and harvesting of cassava, sweet potatoes, bananas, and all the other vegetables grown in this village. And during meals, you will appreciate how they are prepared in typical traditional cuisine.

Homestay accommodation.

Departing from Aguada, we cross the irrigated farming area before reaching the cliff overlooking the village and high plateau bordered by a Canary Island pine forest. You can visit the Cova Crater. After the hike, transfer by minibus to the port of Porto Novo, then boat to Mindelo at 4 p.m. Upon arrival in Mindelo, you will be met and taken to your hotel.

Departure with your driver to discover Monte Verde, the summit of the island and its representation on the city and the surrounding islands.

From Monte Verde, head to Baía das Gatas. Renowned for its annual music festival, this bay offers calm waters thanks to a natural reef that forms a natural pool ideal for swimming. After Baía das Gatas, continue to Praia Grande, a long, undeveloped white sand beach perfect for those looking to escape the crowds. The last stop is Calhau, another fishing village with a pleasant beach and views of Santa Luzia Island and other deserted islets. In Calhau, you can enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants, which often serve fresh fish caught that same day.

It is possible to take a short walk (45 minutes) around an ancient volcano by the sea

Finish your tour by returning to Mindelo. The return route offers beautiful views of the Ribeira de Calhau valley and additional opportunities for photo stops.
