Trek and Camping in Santo Antão

Your adventure begins with your arrival on the island of São Vicente. After landing at Cesária Évora International Airport, you'll be transferred to your hotel in the city center. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy Laginha Beach, a 5-minute walk from your accommodation.

In the morning, a ferry will take you to Santo Antão, a mountainous island renowned for its spectacular scenery. Your first hike begins at the Topo de Coroa volcano, the highest point on the island at 1,979 meters above sea level. After this hike, you will spend the night in a tent in the picturesque village of Cha de Feijoal, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

Night in a tent or bivouac on the terrace of a house

After an al fresco breakfast, you'll begin a descent into the beautiful Alto Mira Valley. This route will take you through varied landscapes, from rugged ridges to lush plantations. The day ends at a comfortable hotel with a swimming pool and Wi-Fi, where you can relax and share your adventures online.

On the fourth day, you'll tackle the ascent to the Lagoa Plateau, a region known for its volcanic landscapes and breathtaking views. After a day of hiking, you'll set up camp and spend the night in a tent, enjoying the tranquility of nature.

Night in a tent

The day begins with a descent to the village of Cha de Igreja. After traveling through highlands and arid valleys, we reach the lush Ribeira Grande Valley, where locals cultivate sugarcane, yhame, mandioc, sweet potatoes, and a wide variety of vegetables. This will be an intense day, requiring you to traverse varied terrain. Upon arrival at Cha de Igreja, you will be welcomed into a local hostel where you can enjoy a well-deserved rest after a long day of walking.

Accommodation: boarding house

You'll hike along the spectacular coastline from Cruzinha to Ponta do Sol, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and cliffs. Enjoy lunch with a family in the village of Formiguinhas. The day ends at a comfortable hotel in Ponta do Sol, a charming coastal town.

For your final day of hiking, you'll explore the Paul Valley, one of the most beautiful and verdant in Santo Antão. A highly fertile region where a wide variety of products such as coffee, oranges, guavas, vegetables, and tubers are grown. Rum is also distilled here, depending on the season. A visit to a rum distillery is also included. After this enriching experience, you'll return to São Vicente by ferry, where you can relax before your return flight.
